DNC Internship FAQ
What will I be doing?
DNC intern responsibilities vary from department to department, but you should definitely expect to be busy! All interns should expect to perform some administrative tasks as everyone at the DNC Xeroxes and faxes. However, interns who prove that they can be trusted to complete administrative duties responsibly, accurately, and promptly are often entrusted with more substantive work as the semester progresses. Some sample tasks:
- In the Political department, you might make calls to state organizers, help out with special events, or research voter election reform legislation.
- In the Communications department, you will work to get out and shape the Democratic message. You might help with the collection of the daily news clips, draft and format press releases, and monitor television appearances by Democratic surrogates.
- In the Finance department, you might attend and staff Washington DC area fundraising events and briefings, process checks collected from major donors, research donor histories, and create call sheets to be used by the Chairman.
What is the dress code at the DNC?
The dress code varies from department to department and ranges from business attire to business casual. You should discuss the dress code of your department with your supervisor once you begin your internship.
